Type locality: Lubwa’s = Luba’s village, Busoga, Uganda.

Type locality: Tindiga, 5 miles south of Kilosa, Morogoro Dist., Tanzania [kilosae]

Type locality: Shirati, Tansania, east bank of Lake Victoria (Victoria Nyanza) [ukerewensis]

TypesType: BMNH 1946.8.6.16 (and possibly additional specimens).
Syntypes: BMNH [kilosae]
Holotype: lost during the Russian attack on Budapest 1956, until then in the Hungarian National Museum [ukerewensis]

CommentSynonymy: Broadley and Howell (1991) synonymized N. kilosae with N. boulengeri.

EtymologyNamed after George Albert Boulenger (1858-1937), herpetologist at the British Museum of Natural History, London. For comments on the types of N. b. kilosae see BAUER & GÜNTHER 1995.

Nucras emini was named after Emin Pascha (1840-1892), German researcher, also known as Isaak Eduard Schnitzer (now a synonym)

Nucras ukerewensis was named after Ukerewe, the largest island in Lake Victoria (now a synonym)
