EtymologyNamed after Latin lunula,  little moon, an ornament worn by women and Latin -atus, provided with, having the nature of, pertaining to. [“...Sur l'occiput se trouvent 2 taches claires, affectant la forme de croissant, à concavité tournée en arrière, en contact l'une avec l’autre sur le milieu de la tête...”].
