Diagnosis 
CommentDistribution: Map in Bogert and Porter 1967: 16. Not listed by LAZCANO VILLARREAL & DIXON 2002 or LEMOS-ESPINAL et al. 2016 for Nuevo Leon. 
EtymologyNamed after Spanish mixteca, from N. mixtécatl, inhabitant of the land of the clouds. Said of Amerindian people who today inhabit the Mexican states of Oaxaca, Guerrero, and Puebla. [“...This mountain village is in the area long occupied by the Mixteca. It seems appropriate, therefore, that the species of Abronia inhabiting the same region be called Abronia mixteca, new species...”].
