Type locality: Mexico: Volcan San Martin, crater rim, Veracruz.  
TypesHolotype: INHS (= UIMNH) 67062; J. Werler and J. Reid; February 15, 1953. 
EtymologyNamed after Jack Robert Reid (b. 1933) of San Antonio, Texas, member of the group that collected the holotype (1953).
