DiagnosisDiagnosis: Similar to Achalinus spinalis, but with more numerous urosteges (88 to 96). (Van Denburgh 1912: 8)

EtymologyProbably named after Franz Werner (1867-1939), Austrian zoologist. See Antonius 1939 and Westersheim 1940 for biographical notes. This species is classified as “near threatened” in Japan (Ota 2000).
