chigirai: Japan (S Ryukyu islands); type locality: Uehara (altitude ca 70 m), Iriomotejima Island, Yaeyama Group, Japan.

Holotype: OMNH (Osaka) R2673, an adult male, collected on a road at night on 18 May 1985, by K. Miyagi. Paratype: OPM H0488, an adult male [chigirai]

CommentConservation: A. f. chigirai is classified as “near threatened” in Japan (Ota 2000). 
EtymologyNamed after its distribution in Taiwan (= Formosa).
