Type locality: Inhaca Island, Mozambique.

DiagnosisDiagnosis: “This southern race is distinguished from the other subspecies by the distinctive fusion of posterior supraocular and parietal (in 81%). In size and ventral counts it agrees with the typical form. Traces of black dorsal stripes are restricted to the tail in large adults.” (Broadley 1990) 
CommentLimb morphology: Limbless. 
EtymologyThe name parietalis refers to the fusion of the posterior subocular with the parietal, which is diagnostic for this subspecies.
