Etymology | Named after Dr. Sir John Kirk (1832-1922), a diplomat, explorer, and naturalist. He was David Livingstone's chief assistant, physician, and naturalist during his second Zambesi expedition (1858-1863) (Beolens et al. 2011). A. k. fitzsimonsi was named after Vivian F. M. Fitzsimons (1901-1975), South African herpetologist and botanist. |
