| Types | Holotype: CAS 227496, adult male, collected by Ted J. Papenfuss on June 25th 2003. Paratypes. MZUF 6716, adult male and MZUF 6717, juvenile, both from “between Carim (= Karin) and Galgalo”, Somalia, collected by E. Granchi on October 6th 1973. MZUF 23762 adult male from Uadi Goddalola, Somaliland, Somalia collected by G. Scortecci on October 2nd 1953 or 1957. |
| Diagnosis | Diagnosis: A moderately large Agama, mor- phologically similar to A. bottegi. It can be identified by the following combination of char- acters: nasal scale round, smooth and tubular; nasal scale not in contact with the first canthus scale but separated by two smaller scales; neck crest short but consists of few distinctly high crest scales; ear hole surrounded by six tufts of spiny scales, with additional two tufts on the neck; vertebral and ventral scales smooth; lateral body scales keeled; dorsal tail scales keeled, ventral tail scales smooth; and males with one uncontinuous row of ten precloacal pores. |
