Diagnosis | Diagnosis: “Very large, adult size (snout-vent length 150-172mm), hatchling 50.8mm SVL (Silhouette island, n=l), egg size 19.9mm (Silhouette island, n=2). Low conical dorsal scales with sparse ridges (18mm-1), dorsal ridge on main dorsal scales; secondary scales visible, flat conical, pitted ventrals, 27-32 scansors and waisted mental. Head and snout proportionately long, feet relatively large, with enlarged toe pads. Deep head. Comment | Distribution: The type locality (”Madagascar”) is probably erroneous, and very probably no Ailuronyx occur on Madagascar. Described after a single specimen that may be a form of A. seychellensis from Praslin (BAUER 1990). |
