Diagnosis | Diagnosis: Ptychoglossus gorgonae is a slender, long-bodied species in which the adpressed limbs just touch or fail to meet by up to two dorsal scale lengths. It is one of two species with an elevated number of transverse dorsal scale rows (31-32; P. danieli, also). A median marginal preanal scale is always present (present or absent in P. myersi); marginal preanals occur only in pairs in all other Ptychoglossus species. Also, only in this species is there a light bar across the occiput.
