Type locality: Afghanistan; Kabul, Pagman River; 10 km SW Kabul; Pogar Prov., Baraki Barak.

DiagnosisDIAGNOSIS. Six to seven preanal pores in males; subcaudal plates along entire tail. (Szczerbak & Golubev 1996)

CommentType species: Tropiocolotes levitoni GOLUBEV & SZCZERBAK 1979 is the type species of the subgenus Asiocolotes GOLUBEV & SZCZERBAK 1979. 
EtymologyThe species name honours Professor Alan E. Leviton, American herpetologist, for his great contribution to herpetology in the Middle East.
