TypesLectotype: iconotype, figure 4 of plate 747 of Scheuchzer 1735 (Fig. 2; Linck collection specimen number 608; Linck 1783), based on Gronovius 1756: 54. n. 7. Neotype: RMNH 7660, from Paramaribo, Suriname, designated by Dixon and Hendricks, 1979: 25. Considered as invalid by Bauer 2012: 68. 
DiagnosisDiagnosis: A relatively large species (maximum total length 522 mm) of Typhlops distinguished from all other western hemisphere forms by having a white snout and white tail ring; 9 dark pigmented rows of dorsal scales that vary from brown to black; scale rows 20-20-18 in 99% of samples examined, with the reduction taking place at the posterior (x = 87.7% of total dorsals) end of the body. (DIXON & HENDRICKS 1979: 25). 
Commentmax length: 522 mm. 
EtymologyNamed after Latin reticulatus, made like a net, net-like, reticulated. (Esteban Lavilla, pers. comm., April 2024)
