Type locality: Orilla (cuneta) Carretera Cano (P.R. road 113), Municipio de Isabela, Puerto Rico (= about 6 km SE Isabela; corrected by Thomas, 1966c).

EtymologyNamed after Karl Patterson Schmidt (1890-1957), American herpetologist who died from a Boomslang bite (Dispholidus typus; see Davis 1957 and RESETAR & VORIS 1997 for biographical notes).
