Diagnosis | Diagnosis: This is the only bitaeniata group species with the inner femoral pores located preanally and the entire femoral pore series confined to the proximal portion of the thigh (Fig. 2). It differs from A. bitaeniata and A. brevifrontalis, the other Andean species, by its imbricate, rather than juxtaposed or subimbricate ventral scales, lack of a subocular scale wedged between the fourth and fifth supralabials, and the uniform tan (occasionally with dark scale edges) color of the ventral surfaces. It further differs from A. pulchella and the second Santa Marta species (described below) by its less imbricate ventral scales, smaller thenar scales, and larger number of contiguous rows of spinules along the absulcal midline and the side apices of the flouncesof the hemipenes [from HARRIS & AYALA 1987]. |
Comment | Synonymy: mostly after HARRIS & AYALA 1987. Listed as synonym of Anadia bitaeniata by PETERS & DONOSO-BARROS 1970 and OFTEDAL 1974. Removed from synonymy with A. pulchella Ruthven by HARRIS & AYALA 1987. |
Etymology | Named after the type locality. |
