CommentSynonymy: Typhlops cumingii mansuetus BARBOUR 1921 has been considered as a synonym of R. affinis but has been revalidated by WALLACH 2003. 
EtymologyPresumably named after the Latin affinis (related to). The description by Boulenger notes that the species was previously identified as the young of Anilios unguirostris. (G. Shea, pers. comm., 9 Feb 2024)
