Type locality: Nan Café, Ile de la Gonâve, Haiti.

Species group: Ctenonotus distichus species group (fide NICHOLSON et al. 2012). 
EtymologyApparently named after the larger scales on the tail and a less pronounced scalloping of the crest, from Latin cauda = tail. No etymology is given by Cochran.
