Etymology | Named after Dr. John Brooks Henderson Jr. (1870-1923), American physician, naturalist, and amateur malacologist, specializing in West Indian shells. A. h. ravidormitans was named after Latin ravus = gray, grayish-yellow, and Latin dormio, dormitus = sleep, given that “they sleep in a drab color”. |
