Subspecies: Anolis isolepis altitudinalis GARRIDO 1985 has been elevated to full species status.

Species group: Anolis carolinensis species group (fide NICHOLSON et al. 2012). 
EtymologyNamed after Greek isos = equal, like, and Greek lepis = scale, after the equal size of scales on the neck, body, and extrememities.
