Species group: Anolis lucius species group (fide NICHOLSON et al. 2012). 
EtymologyUnclear. DUMÉRIL & BIBRON 1837 do not explicitly explain the etymology. However, they provided the common name, L’Anolis Museau de Brochet = Pike-snouted Anolis (from the Latin lucius = pike, as in the fish, whose binomen is Esox lucius). (K. de Queiroz, pers. comm., 22 Oct 2024).
