Etymology | The species name, ‘monticola’, is Latin for ‘inhabitant of the mountains’ (Latin “colere” = inhabiting). A. m. quadrisartus was apparently named after Latin quadrisartus = “patched four times”. Presumably related to the following diagnostic coloration character: “A subspecies of A. monticola characterized by a pair of black, light-centered ocelli on the nape in addition to the pair on the neck” (Thomas & Schwartz 1967:17). |
