Comment | Populations of this species have been redescribed as Anolis williamsmittermeierorum POE & YAÑEZ-MIRANDA 2007. Reports from Peru (WILLIAMS & MITTERMEIER 1991) may be based on the latter species. Distribution: Probably in Colombia although there are no published records [Castro,F. (pers. comm.)] Species groups: Dactyloa heteroderma species group (fide NICHOLSON et al. 2012). |
Etymology | Named after Professor Gustavo Orces (1902-1999), a zoologist and herpetologist who worked at the Polytechnic, Quito and who had a large snake collection that he made available to other researchers (now at the Fundación Herpetológica Gustavo Orces at Museo Ecuatoriano de Ciencias Naturales, Quito. |
