Species group: Anolis angusticeps species group (fide NICHOLSON et al. 2012). 
EtymologyNamed after Latin placidus, quiet, still; in allusion to the cryptic behavior of this species and other twig anoles-clinging (motionless) to twigs or branches when disturbed.
