Species group: Deiroptyx vermiculata species group (fide NICHOLSON et al. 2012).

Karyotype: 2n=36, XY (males) or XX (females) (Giovannotti et al. 2016) 
EtymologyNamed after Paul Bartsch (1871-1960) who was born in Silesia (then part of Germany, now Poland). His family moved to the USA, where he worked at the Smithsonian (1896-1942). He made expeditions to the Philippines (1907-1910) and was known as a world authority on molluscs.
