Type locality: on the south slope of Volcan San Martin Tuxtla,Veracruz, Mexico, between 800 and 1150m elevation.

Diagnosis | Diagnosis: One of smallest anole species (36 to 37 mm snout-vent in adult male); tail approximately 1 2/3 times snout-vent length; adpressed hind limb extends to anterior part of eye; tibia slightly exceeds head length (105 to 111 per cent); ventrals smooth or with exceedingly faint keels, larger than dorsals; dorsals small, weakly keeled, but with 10 median rows somewhat enlarged and becoming progressively larger toward vertebral line; larger scales on top of head, including those of supraorbital semicircles, postrostrals, internasals, and supraoculars prominently keeled; loreals in 7 rows, smooth or weakly keeled; supraorbital semicircles separated by 2 scales, and separated from interparietal by 3 or 4 scales; interparietal smaller than ear opening; postanals not enlarged;dewlap rose red (inlife); irregulard, arkened, pigmented areas on ventral surface. |
