Species group: Deiroptyx equestris species group (fide NICHOLSON et al. 2012). 
EtymologyNamed after G.K. Noble who described Anolis equestris luteogularis together with W.F. Hassler.

A. n. galeifer was named after Latin galea = helmet, and -fer = carrying, in allusion to the large-headed males.
