Holotype: Costa Rican Expeditions (CRE) collection 5290, an adult male; collected by Karen R. Lips, September 21, 1991 [pandoensis] 
DiagnosisDiagnosis (kepmtoni): “Close to A. cupreus and to A. godmani, but the head is shorter, the middorsals are smaller, and the leg is shorter. Also similar to A. polylepis, which occurs with it, in size and general appearance, but the scalation of the dorsum and of the tail is quite different.” (Dunn 1940) 
CommentSynonymy: Norops pandoensis has been synonymized with N. kemptoni by HULEBAK & POE 2006.

Species group: Norops auratus Species Group (fide Nicholson et al. 2012) 
EtymologyNamed after Dr. Kempton Potter Aiken Taylor, an American physician who was born Kempton Potter Aiken but took the surname Taylor after adoption. He worked in Guatemala (1928) and Panama, where he met Dunn, an old friend.
