Type locality: Electric plant, 1500 ft., Sierra de Trinidad, Sancti Spiritus Province, Cuba.  
TypesHolotype: MCZ 19905. 
DiagnosisDESCRIPTION: Size moderate (SVL in males to 55 mm, in females to 48 mm); total loreals 16-34; scales between supraorbitals 1-2 (mode 2); 2-6 scales (mode 4) between interparietal and supraorbital semicircles; 4-6 postrostrals; 1-4 (mode 2) postmentals; suboculars in contact with supralabials; prenasal divided by horizontal suture; dorsals small, granular; ventrals smooth, in diagonal or transverse rows; supradigital scales strongly multicarinate; scales around posterior margin of interparietal small, grading into dorsals; tail laterally compressed, not crested. Dorsum with greenish wash, ground color showing metachrosis from tan to dark brown, including "salt-and-pepper" speckling, often with 4 dark saddles; dewlap yellow to very pale yellow anteriorly, with a large, red, basal spot; often an extensive black area on neck, extending to the posterior portion of expanded dewlap; iris blue (Schwartz & Henderson 1991: 209).
