Species group: Norops sagrei species group (fide NICHOLSON et al. 2012). 
EtymologyUnclear. Probably named after the Greek allos (other) or alloios (of another kind, different).  “The discovery later of Hallowell's type made it clear that the name should be applied to a totally different species.” (BARBOUR & RAMSDEN 1919: 160)
