Type locality: Alto del Cardero (1,050 m), Pico Turquino, Sierra Maestra, Santiago de Cuba province (formerly Oriente), Cuba.

CommentSpecies group: Anolis carolinensis species group (fide NICHOLSON et al. 2012).

Abundance: only known from the type locality (Meiri et al. 2017). 
EtymologyApparently named after the relatively high altitude at which this species occurs. From Middle English, borrowed from Latin altitūdō (“height”), from altus (“high”).
