EtymologyNamed after Latin bitectus, having two covers. [“...with scales broad as long, 1 - 3 keeled, those between ridge rows much smaller, minute, yet flat, one row between the double rowed superciliaries...”]. (from Esteban Lavilla, pers. comm., May 2024)
