Diagnosis | DESCRIPTION: Size small (SVL in males to 52 mm, in females to 43 mm); habitus attenuate, snout very elongate; sexually dimorphic and strongly dichromatic; 5-9 rows of loreals; scales between supraorbitals 0-2 (strongly modally 1); 2-5 scales between interparietal and supraorbital semicircles; 2-5 postrostrals; 4-8 postmentals; suboculars in contact with supralabials; dorsal scales small, about 4 middorsal rows slightly enlarged and distinctly keeled, grading into granular flank scales; ventrals smooth, polygonal, subimbricate; supradigital scales multicarinate; tail not compressed, verticils obscure. Dorsum gray to rich brown to pale greenish tan, pale tan-gray, tan; head grayish brown, gray, or brown, with orange nuchal scrolling, at times reduced or absent; flank stripe (stopping at about midbody) yellow to bright orange-red, pale blue to white, outlined above (and below at times) by dark stripes and with or without substripe stippling or vermiculations; white subocular semicircle present or absent; eye-ring at times orange to buffy; supraorbital area, and lower eyelid and postocular area blue in some populations; post-scrolling chevron or bar present or absent; 0-10 middorsal dark dots or flecks; venter pale yellowish to pale gray; throat at times pale gray, yellowish, to white; dewlap absent; females with a yellow-tan middorsal band with undulating edges, including a fine, pale, middorsal hairline, and with brown suffusions on sides; sides dark brown with an incomplete, light flank stripe; supralabials cream; venter and chin pale yellow to greenish yellow (Schwartz & Henderson 1991: 255). |
