Diagnosis 
CommentStatus: The validity of this taxon is highly dubious [RIVAS et al. 2012]. BOULENGER 1885 listed A. gibbiceps as synonym of A. schiedii.

Distribution: C. McCarthy (BMNH), cited in RIVAS et al. 2012, stated that the holotype is not from Venezuela but from Jamaica.

Species group: Norops auratus Species Group (fide Nicholson et al. 2012) 
EtymologyNamed after Latin gibba, bulging, protuberant and Latin -ceps, -headed.[“... head broad and square posteriorly...”]. (from Esteban Lavilla, pers. comm., May 2024)
