Type locality: La Emajagua, Pico Turquino, about 600 m, Sierra Maesta, Santiago de Cuba Province, Cuba.

CommentSpecies group: Anolis angusticeps species group (fide NICHOLSON et al. 2012). 
EtymologyNamed after the habitat of the species, the guacimo plant (Guazuma tomentosa), one of very important medicinal plant in the Caribbean and other parts of Latin America.
