Diagnosis | DESCRIPTION: Size large (SVL in males to 140 mm, in females to 121 mm); size small (for a member of the A. equestris group); casque less rugose, scale boundaries more discernible; auricular opening larger; vertical dorsals 13-18; caudal scales 16-20; supra- and infralabials 9-12; 36-45 digital lamellae under 4th toe; dewlap present in both sexes. Dorsum (male) generally clear green, especially on limbs and at base of tail; upper and lateral portions of dorsum very dark brown, almost black; neck gray, contrasting with dark head, loreals, and black postorbital spot; infra- and supralabials grayish, spotted with brown; a prominent yellow postlabial band as far as auricular opening; axillary band white; eyelids black; tail generally green with diffuse brown bands in distinct verticils; throat, chest, venter, and inferior surfaces of limbs and tail pale, clear green; dewlap in both sexes, pale pink, interior scales pink in males; females with venter uniform lemon-yellow; dewlap with greenish border, pale pink toward base in females; axillary stripe yellow; postocular blotch black; eyelids white, with a dark grayish spot over eye; casque ashy gray, darker than neck; supra- and infralabials uniform lemon-yellow (Schwartz & Henderson 1991: 313). |
