Comment | The genus Chamaeleolis was synonymized within Anolis by Hass et al. (1993). Species group: Xiphosurus chamaeleonides species group (fide NICHOLSON et al. 2012). |
Etymology | Apparently named after Latin porcus = hog, pig, without explicit explanation by Cope (although possibly referring to the shorter and stouter body compared to [Chamaeleolis] “fernandina” = Anolis chamaeleonides). |
