Type locality: Valle Nuevo, in the Cordiblera Central, southeast of Constanza, 6000 ft. to 8000 ft., La Vega Province, República Dominicana.

|Diagnosis||DESCRIPTION: Size moderate (SVL in males to 60 mm, in females to 50 mm); 4-7|
rows of loreals; scales between supraorbitals 0-1 (strongly modally 1); 1-3 (mode 2) scales between interparietal and supraorbital semicircles; 2 - 6 (mode 4) postrostrals; 2-5 (mode 2) postmentals; suboculars separated from supralabials by 0-1 rows of scales with equal frequency; interparietal very small, often not distinguishable from surrounding scales; dorsal scales tuberculate, mixed with very minute granules, 5--6 dorsalmost rows enlarged and notably elongate into keeled imbricate scales; laterals granular, small, not differentiated from dorsals; ventrals imbricate, keeled; tail compressed, faintly verticillate, 3-5 lateral scales/verticil, 3 enlarged middorsals/verticil, but caudal profile not serrate; supradigital scales keeled. Dorsum green to brown; sides black, flecked with white or copper; flank stripe absent or very poorly delimited; throats not lineate or only very vaguely so; venter dull brassy or coppery; dewlap gray to pale yellow, female chin and throat green to grayish green (Schwartz & Henderson 1991: 341).
