Holotype: MNHN-RA 1901.1 (was a syntype but there is apparently no other known type, fide Denzer et al. 2023). 
DiagnosisDiagnosis (genus): Aphaniotis species are delicate, small sized (SVL < 70 mm) with medium long tails TL/SVL 2–2,5, somewhat laterally compressed body, and relatively long legs. The genus can be separated from all other draconinae genera by small, granulated dorsal/lateral scales intermixed with larger, tuberculate or rhombic scales, a concealed tympanum; blue oral mucosa; fifth toe longer than the first, no vertebral crest or weakly developed; spines on the head absent (U.
