Type locality: Brasil: Bahia: Alagoado, 19° 29' S,41° 21' N.

TypesHolotype: MZUSP 10.027, female. 
DiagnosisDiagnosis: “Calarida de fundo vermelho tijolo corn cinco feixas longitudinais estreitas castanho-escuras. Guinta e sexta supralabiais em comatc com a parietal Ventrais 168·181; 24 a 31 pares de subcaudais” [from RODRIGUES 1993]. 
CommentThis species may belong to the A. assimilis species group (see FERRAREZZI et al. 2005). 
EtymologyNamed after Latin arenarius, arenaria, of/pertaining to sand (Rodrigues 1993, Esteban Lavilla, pers. comm., April 2024)
