Type locality: Estação Ecologia da Sierra das Araras, Barra dos Bugres, Municipio de Cáceres, 15° 05’ S, 57° 11’ W.

DiagnosisDiagnosis: “Espécie próxima à A. vittata (Figs. 10-13) da qual difere por apresentar o focinho achatado (cônico em A. vittata), focinho de cor clara (escuro em A. vittata), mancha clara supralabial curta e triangular (alongada e margens curvas em A. vittata), estrias escuras dorsais largas (estreitas em A. vitlata), escudo terminal comprimido e arredondado (cônico em A. vittata); mancha preta caudal atinge fracamente as subcaudais (completa em A. vittata). A nova espécie e A. vittata, diferem das demais do grupo por apresentarem cinco supralabiais em vez de seis (Vide Chave)” (de Lema 2020: 42). 
CommentSimilar species: A. vittata is very similar to A. christineae, hence they may be synonymous (Entiauspe-Neto & Tiutenko 2020). 
EtymologyNamed after Dr. Christine Strüssmann, Brazilian herpetologist. She graduated in veterinary medicine at Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do SuI (1982) and with a master's degree in ecology from the University of Campinas (1992). She also holds a doctorate in zoology from the Pontificia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do SuI (2003).
