Leposoma picticeps: Type locality: Pebas, Peru.

Type locality: Canelos, Ecuador.
Reproductionoviparous
TypesHolotype: BMNH 1946.9.1.5
DiagnosisDiagnosis: A small microteiid lizard with cylindrical body, tail round in cross section, and with relatively short limbs. Distance between forelimbs and hindlimbs 1.5-2.5 times as long as a forelimb. Three supraoculars, the last one followed by four or five large scales bordering the parietal laterally. Seven supralabials, second small, sixth highest and largest, border between second and third under the loreal or under the anterior part of the frenocular, that between fourth and fifth under the middle of the eye. High number (22-48) of temporals. Number of scales around midbody 35-52. Back uniformly brown, brown with one vertebral dark line or brown with two para-vertebral dark lines. Underside immaculate cream, except for the labials, sides of chinshields and gulars, which may have irregular dark spots [from Hooogmoed & Avila-Pires 1992: 460].
CommentSynonymy: Pantodactylus tyleri and A. versteegii have been considered as a synonyms of A. reticulata (e.g. by PETERS & DONOSO-BARROS 1970). Leposoma picticeps COPE 1886 has been synonymized with A. reticulata by HARRIS 1994.

Distribution: Presence in Bolivia unclear; there seem to be no published specific localities (T. Doan, pers. comm.).

Type species: Cercosaura reticulata O’SHAUGHNESSY 1881 is the type species of the genus Arthrosaura BOULENGER 1885.

EtymologyNamed after Latin reticulata, made like a net, net-like, reticulated. (Esteban Lavilla, pers. comm., April 2024)
