Etymology | Named after Latin guttatus, provided with drops, spots or specks.[“...Color superne cineraceus, guttis albidis (in vivo animali pallide viridibus?), in series quatuor longitudinales dispositis, A. g. flavilineatus was named after Latin flavus, yellow, golden, gold colored + Latin lineatus, lined. ["...Frorn the Latin, flavus, yellow, and lineatus, lined; used in reference to the broad yellow middorsal stripe in adults…"]. A. g. immutabilis was named after Latin immutabilis, unchangeable/unalterable. ["...This species attains to the largest size known in the genus, without losing its striped coloration, as do the other large forms…"]. |
