Type locality: Capirio, 1200 feet elevation, on the Río Tepalcatepec, Michoacán, Mexico.

Diagnosis 
CommentCnemidophorus calidipes shows an ontogenetic color change from striped to cross-banded/speckled (see Figure 2 in Duellman 1955: 5). 
EtymologyNamed after Latin calidus, warm, hot + Latin pes, foot. [“...The specific name... alludes to the heat of the substrate as well as to the speed of the lizard...”].
