Distribution | Ecuador, Colombia (Cauca, Huila, Putumayo, Amazon versant of the Andes from Parque Nacional Cueva de Los Guacharos (01° 49’ N, 75° 53’ W) in the Department of Cauca, Colombia, to Macas (02° 19’ S, 78° 07’ W) in the Province of Morona-Santiago, Ecuador, elevation 500–3000 m. Habitat: Amazon Most Broadest Forest and Andean Broadest Forest. Type locality: Loreto (00° 40’ S, 77° 19’ W, ca. 450 m elevation), Province of Orellana, Ecuador. |

Etymology | Named after Professor Gustavo Orces V. (1902-1999), a zoologist and herpetologist who worked at the Polytechnic, Quito and who had a large snake collection that he made available to other researchers (now mostly at the Fundación Herpetológica Gustavo Orces at Museo Ecuatoriano de Ciencias Naturales, Quito). |
