DistributionEcuador, Colombia (Cauca, Huila, Putumayo, Amazon versant of the Andes from Parque Nacional Cueva de Los Guacharos (01° 49’ N, 75° 53’ W) in the Department of Cauca, Colombia, to Macas (02° 19’ S, 78° 07’ W) in the Province of Morona-Santiago, Ecuador, elevation 500–3000 m.

Habitat: Amazon Most Broadest Forest and Andean Broadest Forest.

Type locality: Loreto (00° 40’ S, 77° 19’ W, ca. 450 m elevation), Province of Orellana, Ecuador.  
Reproductionoviparous (not imputed, fide Zimin et al. 2022) 
TypesHolotype: CAS-SUR 15622, adult male, collected on October 1952 by J. Olalla. 
DiagnosisDiagnosis in Savage 1955: 17, and Passos et al. 2009. 
CommentRhabdosoma orcesi has been synonymized previously with Atractus occipitoalbus (by SAVAGE 1960) but revalidated by Passos et al. 2009.
