Diagnosis
Comment	Synonymy: This species has been synonymized with Atractus elaps by SAVAGE 1960 but revalidated by DIXON et al. 1976. Distribution: Map in Dixon et al. 1976: 224 (Fig. 2). See map in Nogueira et al. 2019.
Etymology	Named after Professor Eduard Friedrich Poeppig (1798-1868), a German naturalist and collector.
