| Diagnosis | Diagnosis:-Blanus tingitanus is similar in coloration and pattern to B. cinereusand B. mettetali but may be distinguished from the former through biochemical and morphometric examination and from the latter through morphological examination. Blanus tingitanus and B. cinereusapparently share no alleles at 11 electrophoretic loci (Ab, Adh, Ak, Aid, Aldh, Ck, Est2, La, Ldh 1, Me, and Pap). Male B. tingitanus tend to have more ventral body segments and more body annuli than male B. cinereus(Table 4); male B. tingitanus also have slightly shorter heads than male B. cinereusof comparable SVL (Table 3, Fig. 2). Female B. tingitanus tend to have fewer dorsal body segments and more body annuli than B. cinereus(Table 4), and female B. tingitanus also have slightly shorter prefrontal shield lengths and shorter head lengths than B. c. cinereusof similar SVL (Table 3).
