Type locality: l’ancien centre ORSTOM de Brazzaville près de l’ancien bâtiment de la trypanosomiase (04°16’39"S, 15°14’20"E; elevation 398 m).

TypesHolotype: MNHN-RA-2015.0083 (by original designation) (formerly IRD TR.4232), collected by J.-F. Trape on 15 December 2013 around 8 pm; paratypes: 17 specimens from Brazzaville. Le spécimen IRD TR.4231 a été collecté le 14 décembre 2013 vers 19h30 sur l’ancien centre ORSTOM de Brazzaville devant l’ancienne maison du premier auteur (04°16’40"S, 15°14’31"E) puis conservé plusieurs semaines en vie (Fig. 5) et utilisé pour les analyses moléculaires. Les seize autres paratypes ont été collectés entre 1980 et 1984 sur le centre ORSTOM ou dans d’autres quartiers de Brazzaville.
Leurs numéros de collection sont les suivants : MNHN 1987.1010 (anciennement ORSTOM 191), 1987.1011 (anciennement ORSTOM 38), 1987.1015 (anciennement ORSTOM 178), 1987.1017 (anciennement ORSTOM 181), 1987.1018 (anciennement ORSTOM 156), 1987.1019 (anciennement ORSTOM 158), 1987.1020 (anciennement ORSTOM 162), 1987.1021 (anciennement ORSTOM 160), 1987.1022 (anciennement ORSTOM 25), 1987.1693 (anciennement ORSTOM 409), 1987.1696 (anciennement ORSTOM 573), 1987.1707 (anciennement ORSTOM 415), 1987.1708 (anciennement ORSTOM 417), 1987.1721 (anciennement ORSTOM 418), 1987.1753 (anciennement ORSTOM 569), 1987.1757 (anciennement ORSTOM 406). 
DiagnosisDiagnosis (original): “Une espèce du complexe Boaedon fuliginosus / Boaedon lineatus caractérisée par la combinaison des caractères suivants : coloration dorsale brun sombre; absence constante de lignes claires sur le côté du corps; chez les juvéniles, présence habituelle d’une paire de lignes claires de chaque côté de la tête, ces lignes habituellement peu contrastées et disparaissant chez les adultes; lorsqu’elle est présente, la ligne claire supérieure est épaisse dans sa partie antérieure entre l’œil et les internasales, où sa largeur sur la préfrontale est proche de la largeur de la loréale, mais courte et étroite en arrière de l’œil; présence de 29 ou 31 rangs d’écailles dorsales; présence de 199 à 232 écailles ventrales (mâles: 199-213, femelles : 217-232) et de 48 à 69 écailles sous-caudales divisées (mâles : 59-69, femelles: 48-55).”

EtymologyLe nom de cette espèce évoque sa distribution géographique qui s’étend à la fois au nord et au sud du bloc forestier congolais dans les régions de savanes humides et de mosaïques forêt-savane.
