DistributionDemocratic Republic of the Congo (Zaire, Katanga; near Lake Upemba)

Type locality: Nyonga, Katanga, Belgian Congo.  
Reproductionoviparous.

CommentDiet: The stomach contents of a specimen of L. s. upembae (UTEP 21002) contained a catfish (Clariidae: Clarias) (Greenbaum et al. 2015).

Habitat: partially aquatic (Greenbaum et al. 2015). 
EtymologyNamed after Lake Upemba where the species occurs.
