| Diagnosis | Diagnosis: Brachymeles libayani can be distinguished from congeners by the following combination of characters: (1) body size small (SVL 52.7–66.1 mm), (2) limbs tridactyl, (3) limb length short, (4) supralabials six, (5) infralabials five, (6) supraciliaries six, (7) supraoculars five, (8) midbody scale rows 22–23, (9) axilla–groin scale rows 72–75, (10) paravertebral scale rows 90–92, (11) pineal eye spot present, (12) frontoparietals contact, (13) enlarged chin shields in three pairs, (14) nuchal scales differentiated, (15) fourth su- pralabial below eye midline, (16) auricular opening covered with scales, (17) presacral vertebrae 47, (18) fusion of mental and first infralabials, and (19) nonuniform body color (Tables 4 and 5 in SILER et al. 2011). |

He was the first Philippine president to be laid to rest in the Libingan ng mga Bayani, or Cemetery of the Heroes, located within Fort Bonifacio in Manila, Philippines. The municipality of Carlos P. Garcia, and type locality for Brachymeles libayani, was named after this Philippine hero. The word ‘‘libayani’’ is derived from the phrase Libingan ng mga Bayani.” [SILER et al. 2011]. |
